Costume Crazy

Sisters can really straighten you out.  They say what they mean, without hesitation and sans sugar coating.  At least mine does.  So, when I admitted to Mo that I have been crazily creating Halloween costumes, she set me straight.  Something to the tune of, why are you obsessed with Halloween?

I think Martha really warped by bean.  I'm all about the costumes these days.  Since Mo told me to reel it in (thanks sis!), I did.  Kinda.  With Valentines Day right around the corner, I decided I needed something more to the tune of sweetness.  And, along came cupid!  Part costume, part Valentine and 100% awesome!

Meet LovelySquid

I fall in love often...on Etsy.  Start with the plethora of mind blowing creations and add to that my utter lack of self control (stop looking at me cookies).  And you have, tadaa, a handmade shopaholic.

Enter LovelySquid.  This fabulous textile artist is, gasp, my neighbor!  That's right kids, I'm in trouble.

The "shop local" option on Etsy allows you to see what poppin' in your neighborhood.  Guess what?  My hood is poppin'!  LovelySquid lives here.  MaryEllen's beautiful scarves are not only colorful and comfy but are eco chic to boot.  All of her one of a kind scarves are made from upcycled and recycled fabrics.  Oh boy.. I'm in love...again.

Mistletoe Hit!

I'm happy (and totally shocked) to say that my Mistletoe Kissing Balls were a total hit this holiday season.  I made them by cutting, folding, sewing and gluing a wool blend felt to a styrofoam ball.  It's a labor intensive process and takes a huge amount of felt, so they are a little pricey.  I didn't expect many orders due to the cost, but people seemed happy to spend!  I was amazed.
